Santa Clara Through Jocelyn’s Eyes
Jocelyn is from Watsonville, CA and is graduating with a degree in Biology and a minor in Spanish Studies. She’s been involved heavily in her past four years in a range of involvements such as: Cell Biology Research Lab, Health Communication Research Project, Lead Peer Mentor, HPPA Advisor, Anatomy Lab TA, Spanish Tutor, Tribeta, and University Honors Program.
Here are some of Jocelyn’s highlights during her time here at Santa Clara.
Research Assistant

“This picture reflects my time being a research assistant at SCU. I have had the amazing opportunity to be a part of a cell biology and a health communication lab which have allowed me to grow both academically and professionally. I have also been able to present at various research conferences which have allowed me to strengthen my presentation skills, have the opportunity to network and create lasting memories with my research partners. Through research I have gained lifelong mentors and skills that I will take with me beyond SCU!”
LEAD Scholars Program

“This picture is of me and the entire LEAD senior class! I included this picture because it represents the family LEAD has provided me with and all of the support they have given me throughout the years. This program has meant so much to me because it has provided me with a safe space full of amazing, hardworking and inspiring individuals!”
SCU Student Ambassador Program

“I included this picture of myself and the whole student ambassador team because it represents one of my involvements that has made my time at SCU so meaningful. Being a student ambassador has allowed me to meet so many people whether it be prospective students or other student ambassadors. This program has provided me with much more than just work experience. It has provided me a home where I have formed long lasting friendships and made memories I will cherish forever!”
Friendships!

“One of the best parts about my time in college has been the friendships I have made. I have included a picture of my best friends and I at one of our many lunch trips. The long study sessions, laughs we had, and ranting sessions we had has made my college experience so enjoyable and memorable. Being able to go through college with them has been an unbelievable blessing, I couldn’t imagine it without them!
If you could give your freshman self one piece of advice, what would it be?
“I wish I could tell my freshman year me to take more risks and to get involved as soon as possible! My most rewarding experiences and best friendships have come from my involvement and I couldn't be happier with the communities they have provided me with at SCU!”
