Noor Khan '27: SCU Student Ambassador

How did you hear about your job?

“I actually heard about the job through a couple of my friends who worked at the admissions office! They had amazing things to say about the ambassador program, so I decided to submit my application. After submitting my application and video, I went through a couple of rounds before becoming an ambassador! It was an exciting experience and I really enjoyed the recruitment process.”

What’s your favorite part about being an ambassador?

“I love getting to chat with parents, prospective students, and families during panels and tours. It’s really cool to see people come from all over the world to check out Santa Clara. The craziest part of being an ambassador is having someone tell you they were on your tour a year ago and then chose Santa Clara!”

Sofie Ervin-Agudelo '27: Digital Filmmaking Facilities Teaching Assistant

What do you like about being a Digital Filmmaking Teaching Assistant?

“My favorite part of my job is working with gear and handling the art of filmmaking. I’m passionate about what I do and I love helping underclassmen who are taking introductory classes. Being able to support them has been an awesome and fulfilling experience”

How has this role helped you professionally?

“This role has helped me connect and network with other filmmakers on campus which I’ve found valuable to my professional development. Students at Santa Clara are incredibly collaborative and having the ability to work alongside them has been so enjoyable.”

Sophia Mikkelson '27: HUB Writing Center Partner

What’s a piece of advice you would give to yourself applying for on-campus jobs?

“You are not too young to go for the positions you want! If a position interests you, try to make a connection with someone who already works in that job. Most people are more than willing to help you get through the application and/or interview process.”

What have you learned from working at the HUB Writing Center?

“Having an on campus job has taught me better time-management skills as I balance classes and my work schedule. I also think that working with other driven students naturally creates a network of people you can lean on when you need extra support with your classes, whether it's peer-reviewing each other's papers or splitting the cost of a textbook for a class you have in common.”

Zach Henderson '26: Front Desk Assistant at Finn Residence Hall

Where would you advise students to go if they are looking for an on-campus job?

“If you’re looking for an on-campus job, Workday is your best friend! Santa Clara provides its students with such a wide variety of employment options and I encourage you to take advantage of them.”

How did you get your role as a front desk assistant?

“After applying directly on Workday, I submitted a video interview and then was hired. It's great to learn how to balance income in college. It gives you a taste of post-grad and work-life balance. Plus, it looks great on your resume.”

There are so many awesome and fulfilling jobs available on campus! From opportunities within your major, to supporting students directly, working on campus is another great way to experience all that SCU has to offer. Feel free to ask any ambassadors about what it looks like to have an on-campus job!
