What aspect of your fellowship has been most rewarding?
Growing up around non-profits, I thought I understood civic engagement, but my time with Silicon Valley Council of Nonprofits (SVCN) showed me what it truly means to live your values. Seeing the team commit 100% to their mission at work and then spend their weekends supporting local mom and pop shops or volunteering was incredibly empowering. Helping facilitate the Nonprofit Convergence Conference allowed me to connect with passionate leaders and see how supporting member non-profits creates a massive ripple effect in our community. While balancing community responsibility with a busy school and career schedule can be a challenge, this fellowship has pushed me out of my comfort zone and deepened my understanding of complex issues like affordable housing. Moving forward, I am committed to carving out a dedicated space for the causes I care about and keeping this strong foundation with SVCN alive through future volunteerism and research.
