What aspect of your fellowship has been most rewarding?
Throughout my fellowship with the County of Santa Clara’s Office of Sustainability and Resilience (OSR), I was exposed to the incredible magnitude of work required to combat food insecurity in our region. Working on the food systems team and volunteering hands-on at Veggielution completely transformed my understanding of public benefit; I realized that true civic engagement goes far beyond just showing up—it relies on active listening, learning from diverse perspectives, and building community resilience. Moving forward, I am committed to making volunteerism a consistent, long-term practice in my life rather than an occasional act. Whether engaging as a professional or simply as a curious resident, I plan to stay client-facing, intentionally listening to the hardships of underserved populations and partnering with local organizations to ensure that food and vital resources reach the neighbors who need them most.
