Hanna Roth 2025-2026 Fellow Silicon Valley Council of Nonprofits - Marketing and Communication Intern

Class of 2027
Finance, International Business
Hometown: Seattle, WA

What aspect of your fellowship has been most rewarding?
My fellowship as the Marketing and Communications Intern with the Silicon Valley Council of Nonprofits (SVCN) completely shifted my view of civic engagement from occasional front-line volunteering to an ongoing, professional practice. Supporting advocacy efforts like the Measure A campaign taught me that strategic communication is not just about polished aesthetics; it is a vehicle for social justice that demands judgment, humility, and care to ensure complex public policies are accessible and accurately represented. Seeing how underfunded non-profits juggle systemic community crises alongside internal operational hurdles showed me how vital infrastructure, clear storytelling, and digital strategy are to organizational survival. Moving forward into my business and international business career, I am committed to treating responsible citizenship as a daily habit rather than an election-year event. I plan to use my communication background as a tool for public access and equity, using my skills behind the scenes to amplify marginalized voices, bridge resource gaps, and support the common good.
