Tyler Pineda

Double major in History and Classics

"I was unaware of Classics as a field prior to attending Santa Clara, but began taking Classics courses when I enrolled in Ancient Greek my sophomore year, as I was interested in reading the Iliad in its original language. After an incredible elementary sequence, I decided to major in Classics at the end of that year. I have not regretted my decision one bit. From continuing to read Greek and completing commentary projects to simulating the assembly of a Classical Greek city-state, I’ve learned a great deal about the Classical world and also been able to draw connections to the functioning of contemporary society. Classics has gifted me with the ability to perform deep analysis, solve challenging problems, and engage with texts critically. I plan to take all these skills with me into law school next year, and could not be more grateful."
