An Update from Rani Hanstad '17

Rani Hanstad ’17 (Communication, Women's and Gender Studies) currently works as an Associate at the Stuart Foundation, a San Francisco-based family foundation that funds education systems in California. She enjoys being able to support programs and initiatives that empower young people in their leadership and organizing. Prior to the Stuart Foundation, Rani was a Partnership Manager at Equal Opportunity Schools, where she worked with high school leaders to increase access for students of color to Advance Placement courses. During her Master’s program in education policy, she spent time with the City of Seattle Department of Education and Early Learning working on funding opportunities for community-based organizations. Rani credits her passion for educational equity and her career in the nonprofit sector in part to the GNSX program which is rooted in social justice.
Lately, in her free time, Rani volunteers with Mount Tamalpais College (a liberal arts college serving incarcerated people at San Quentin Rehabilitation Center- check them out!), buries herself in books, listens to a lot of Raveena and Chappell Roan, and enjoys the current season of Yellowjackets.
