Tuberculosis (TB) Testing Information

  • Your community engagement requirements will detail what type of TB assessment or testing you are required to complete and submit to be cleared to start your engagement. SCU students are responsible for knowing what type of TB assessment or testing they are required to pursue to meet all the engagement requirements. Below are the types of assessment and testings that are available through Student Health, Counseling, and Well-Being only during Week 2 of the Winter quarter:
      • TB Risk Assessment - $5.00 charge to SCU students (completed during the in-person meeting with the Arrupe Engagement team)
      • TB Skin Testing - $11.00 charge to SCU students
      • TB Blood Testing - $55.00 charge to SCU students

*students will need to sign up for appointments with Cowell for both types of testing. Please reach out to arrupe@scu.edu in order to access the sign-up.

  • SCU students are responsible for financing the TB assessments and/or testing they are pursuing. Student Health, Counseling, and Well-Being, the Arrupe Engagement Program or Santa Clara University will not cover these expenses.
  • Many medical insurances cover the cost of a TB blood test so we encourage all students to check with their personal healthcare providers if they have questions or concerns. You are welcome to submit a claim through your own health insurance or move forward with paying the out of pocket price.
  • For any students moving forward with any appointment with Student Health, Counseling, and Well-Being, if you miss your appointment without notification you will be charged a No Show fee of $30.00 that will be the students responsibility to finance. Student Health, Counseling, and Well-Being, the Arrupe Engagement Program or Santa Clara University will not cover these expenses.
  • If students need to set up a new TB Skin Testing appointment, they will be charged $10.00  that will be the students responsibility to finance. Student Health, Counseling, and Well-Being, the Arrupe Engagement Program or Santa Clara University  will not cover these expenses.

Costs associated with completing this requirement outside of SCU Student Health, Counseling, and Well-Being will be the student’s responsibility to finance. Student Health, Counseling, and Well-Being, the Arrupe Engagement Program or Santa Clara University  will not cover these expenses.
  • Information on what requirements need to be completed for each community placement will be available to you on your ELSJ class Camino page, in your confirmation email, and can be identified during the registration process.
