Isabella Burleigh was born and raised in Vallejo, CA, located in the Bay Area. Through her years at Saint Patrick-St. Vincent High School, Isabella displayed an immense passion for education, leadership, social justice, and service. In addition to serving on student government for all four years, she was co-founder and co-president of SPSV’s Philosophy Club and also co-founded and organized the school’s first Women’s Appreciation and Awareness week, created to shed light on women’s issues, raise money for charity, and celebrate women. She displayed her affinity for education and service by not only being an active tutor at her school, but also tutoring at other schools in her area. Upon graduating, she was awarded a multitude of academic honors, including: Four year honor roll, AP Scholar with Honor, and was a member of the National Honor Society, California Scholarship Federation, and more. Despite the intense time commitment it took to be active in leadership roles and maintain a standard of academic excellence, Isabella still made time for one of her favorite hobbies, music. She played 1st Alto Saxophone in SPSV’s Wind Ensemble for all four years, and was also a member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society. Isabella looks forward to continuing to expand upon her passion for social justice through her major in Political Science as well as continuing her focus on service and leadership through a career in politics. She is grateful and honored to be joining the Johnson Scholars Program and SCU community as a whole.
