The LEAD Scholars Program provides current LEAD Scholars with leadership opportunities such as becoming part of the LEAD Week Staff. There are opportunities to lead a group of mentees as a Peer Mentor, actively participate in the first-year seminar courses with a seminar instructor as a Seminar Peer Educator, or the CTW courses as an English Peer Educator.

Michelle Calderon Flores
LEAD Week Assistant

Hi everyone! My name is Michelle Calderon Flores and I am from Phoenix, Arizona. I am a senior majoring in Neuroscience with minors in Spanish Studies and Biology. One of my favorite classes I have taken at SCU is Sowing Stories in the Forge Garden. Although it is a class that is not related to my major,  I was able to explore outside of my field of study and talk about complex topics while engaging with other students and faculty members who I do not normally come across. So, If you are interested in taking a fun class, I recommend taking a look at the various Spark Seminars offered during the Spring Quarter.

A few fun facts about me are (1) I absolutely love making coffee and going on coffee errands, (2) My name is actually spelled with only one “l” and (3) I enjoy going on spontaneous adventures.

In addition to LEAD, some other organizations I am involved in are: Undocumented Students and Allies Association (USAA) where I will be serving as a Co-Chair; the Diversity and Inclusion Student Center (DISC); and, the University Honors Program (UHP).

I am super excited and looking forward to meeting all of you!
