Samantha's Story

I knew I wanted to attend Santa Clara University from my first campus tour. From the rose gardens to delicious food at Benson, I was hooked. However, my time at SCU would teach me far more than I could have ever anticipated.

I quickly learned that SCU is about community. About lifting one another up. About encouraging yourself and others to innovate, create, and succeed. As I walked through the campus, I began to walk outside of myself — discovering what my true passions were and shaping me into the woman I am today. I understood the dedication that SCU has to giving back, to making a positive impact on the surrounding community and the world at large, and I knew I wanted to be a part of that.

The entirety of SCU — from the faculty to the friends I’ve made here — always made me feel welcome and accepted. It wasn’t long after graduating from Santa Clara that I began working full-time in marketing. I had found a creative outlet that suited me, but the philosophies and values of SCU still echoed in my head. Something was missing.

I decided to take training classes at nights and Saturdays to become a sexual assault counselor. That decision was, in major part, thanks to Santa Clara. The ethics and morals the university instilled in me gave me the push I needed to discover how I truly wanted to help others. I am incredibly grateful for my time and experiences at SCU.
