Santa Clara University (SCU) provides reasonable accommodations for employees with qualifying disabilities under the Americans with Disabilities Act and its amendments (ADA) as well as other federal or state applicable laws and regulations.
SCU enters into an interactive process with employees requesting accommodations to identify functional limitations specific to the workplace which may impact an employee’s ability to perform the essential functions of their job.
Reasonable accommodations enable the employee to perform the essential functions of their position, may be medically necessary, and may not create a substantial operational burden or undue hardship for SCU.
Scheduling An Information Session
To schedule an information session with a member of our HR ADA team—Jane O’Brien or Georgina Santiago—and learn more about the resources available to you, please email hraccommodations@scu.edu.
Supervisor Referrals
Supervisors or managers may initiate a referral on behalf of an employee if they become aware, through observation or discussion, that the employee may benefit from an information session or exploring accommodation options. Referrals do not replace the employee’s right to disclose or request an accommodation themselves.
To make a referral, the supervisor can contact the HR ADA team (Jane O’Brien or Georgina Santiago) via hraccommodations@scu.edu with a brief description of the observed concern. The HR ADA team will reach out to the employee to offer an information session.
