About Derek Dukes

Derek Dukes '96, is the co-founder of Dipity, Inc. and was previously employee #6 at Yahoo!, which he joined just after he graduated from Santa Clara University as an OMIS major. The Dukes Business Service Center is named in acknowledgment of his generous support in helping fund the construction of Lucas Hall.

Room Support Services

Please note that we do not manage or create bookings for rooms. All room requests must be processed through the Room Reservation process. If you have any questions, reach out to the LSBFinOp team.

All requests must be submitted through the Dukes Business Service Center - Forbes/Lobby Setup Requests form at least one week before the event date. If you choose or are not able to use our services, please make sure the room/furniture is returned to the state you found it. Rooms that are not returned to the original state will incur penalties. Please refer to the Room Conditions section of the Room Reservation for more information.

Forbes & Lobby Events
  • When to use our services:
    • Events taking place in Forbes during the Center’s open hours
    • Forbes set-ups and breakdown services in one of our standard configurations
    • Basic furniture moves in the Bank of America Commons (Lobby) that require minimal lifting
  • When to request University Support's Event Services Team:
    • Before/after the Center’s open hours
    • During center closures (above)
    • Any custom Forbes setup
    • Any furniture moves that require tables to be lifted or shifted completely out of the Lobby or Forbes spaces.

NOTE: Set-ups and breakdowns take the team at least half an hour. Make sure to secure the time and spaces needed for these set-ups and breakdowns in your reservation requests. If you need the furniture to leave the space completely, you must also reserve a room they can be moved to.

Extra Chairs Requests

If you booked one of the conference rooms or executive classrooms and the chair count does not meet your needs, do not move chairs from other rooms, as these often do not return to their original space. You can use the request form for extra chairs to be brought from the Forbes closet. Please make sure this is within the capacity guidelines (located in Astra).

If you have reserved one of our conference rooms, Onity keys are available for pickup by faculty & staff members. To check out a key, you must have your SCU ID and be listed as one of the contacts for the event in Astra. This can be under main contact or Sponsoring Organization Contact.  If no one listed on the event can pick up the key ahead of the event, a Dukes staff member will confirm the event in Astra and then let you into the room.

We do not check out key cards to students. If this is an event for a student group, the faculty or staff member sponsoring the group would need to pick up a key ahead of time. They are responsible for managing if the key is returned.

Failure to return a key leads to a $50 fine. More information can be found on the Room Reservation site under the Reservations Process section.

Undergraduate Business Programs have specific tabling hours for clubs, employers, and partners. Please work with their department to reserve your tabling requests through them.

To table outside of the UGBP, you must secure your reservation through Astra or the Room Reservation Qualtrics Form (for Forbes Welcome Tables). Once this is confirmed, you can email us at dukes-busctr@scu.edu with the details of your request. More information about tabling requirements is located on the Room Reservation site.

Available at the Desk

The key for the Bloomberg Terminal is kept in storage and check-in/out is managed by our staff. The physical terminal is located on the 3rd floor near the faculty offices. If you need any assistance, once you have checked out the key, our team members can help you access the walkthrough document.

The limit for check-out time is 24 hours on weekdays. If you are checking it out for use over the weekend, you can check out the key in the afternoon on Friday and return it on Monday morning. If you want to book your terminal time ahead, please email us.

If you have a device running low on battery and don’t have a charger available, you can drop off your device at our new charging station! Just bring your device to the Dukes Business Service team member on shift, and they will take down your information to check in your device. When you are ready for the device to be returned, you can check it out any time a staff member is available. Please have your SCU ID or phone credentials on hand for check-in and check-out.

Types of charging devices we have available:

  • Wireless charging pad
  • Apple MagSafe charging pad
  • Two fast multi-charge cables w/ USB Type C, Lightning & Micro USB compatibility

NOTE: Please pick up your device before the Center closes. A Dukes Business Service Center representative will contact those who have left their devices around 45 minutes before the end of the day to ensure they have time to pick up their device. Any device not picked up will be unavailable until the next business day. If a device is left over 72 hours, it will be considered lost. Phones, laptops, and tablets will be taken to Campus Safety. All others will be moved to the Lost & Found section of our Center.

Faculty, staff, students, and visitors can drop off items for others to pick up. Those picking up items can retrieve them during the Center's regular business hours.

Pick up pencils, bluebooks, and other basic supplies in an emergency. Quantities are limited, and supply is not guaranteed. Below is the pricing list:

Scantron Forms 50¢ each
Greenbooks 50¢ each
Pencils 50¢ each
Pens 75¢ each

Lost and found items in Lucas Hall are dropped off and claimed at the Dukes Business Service Center. For items lost in classrooms, first check the class’ Lost & Found boxes, which are the red boxes available in all reservable spaces. These items are brought down to the Center on the weekends.

Students may send print jobs to the Smart Print printer. Instructions to use the Smart Printer:

For Faculty and Staff members, there are two Xerox printers/copiers located behind the desk. Faculty should default to using the copiers on the 2nd and 3rd floors, but if those are down, you are welcome to use these.

Xerox Printing

To set up access to use these printers, please follow the instructions on the University Operations - Copier Program site. If you are having trouble, please contact University Support Services.

Xerox Copying

For simple copy jobs that should take less than ten minutes, a Dukes Representative can make them for you, provided that you have a copy code to provide them. Below is how to receive a copy code:

  • Faculty - Reach out to your Department Manager to get your department code. You can also use the request form below.
  • Staff - Fill out the Shared Printer/Copier New User Request form for your own code.

For complicated or custom copy requests or anything that would take over ten minutes to process, please request access to move behind the desk from the team member on shift to make the copies. Please also be aware of our open and close times when using these functions, as we cannot accommodate outside of those hours.

NOTE: As with all technology, sometimes the printer and copiers malfunction. If the Smart Print is down, students must go to the University Library to print their documents. If the Xerox copiers are down, there are also copiers in the faculty lounges on the second and third floors. If these are also out, you must go to the library to access their copiers.
