Dr. Kevin Li is an Associate Professor in the Department of Accounting at Santa Clara University's Leavey School of Business, which he joined in 2020. His research spans earnings persistence and forecasting, cost of capital, disclosure regulation, valuation and ESG, and capital allocation efficiency in international markets.
Dr. Li's scholarship has drawn attention beyond academia, with his work on sell-side analysts and financial market regulation featured in Bloomberg, CNBC, and The New York Times. He serves on the editorial boards of the Review of Accounting Studies, Contemporary Accounting Research, and The International Journal of Accounting, and is a member of the American Accounting Association. In 2025, he received the Best Reviewer Award from Contemporary Accounting Research.
Before joining Santa Clara, Dr. Li was an Assistant Professor of Accounting at the University of California, Riverside, where he received a $91,000 UC Innovative Learning Technology Initiative Grant for innovative online teaching methods. Prior to that, he served as an Assistant Professor of Accounting at the University of Toronto.
Dr. Li holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from the University of California, Berkeley and an MBA from New York University. Outside of academia, he is an avid marathon runner.
