Joe Maglione

Quarterly Lecturer, Accounting

Joe has served as an Adjunct Lecturer, for the Accounting Department of the Leavey School of Business since Fall 2018.  

Joe retired in May 2018 as a senior audit partner after 40 years with Deloitte & Touche, all in Silicon Valley; his clients included some of the firm’s largest and most complex technology companies, providing accounting, auditing and due diligence services.    His early career included work with several successful startup companies, from helping to write business plans and meeting with venture capitalists, to assisting with over 30 successful public offerings..  Joe authored two publications for Deloitte – Financing Business Growth and Buying and Selling a Business, and revised two other publications – Raising Venture Capital and Strategies for Going Public.

Joe was a founding member of SCU’s accounting advisory board, and continues as a member of that board.   He also helped launch the Certified Equity Professional program at SCU, a joint learning program covering legal, tax and accounting issues for stock option professionals.  Joe was honored as the accounting alumnus of the year in 1999 for his service to the University.

Joe served on the board of the Bay Area chapter of the American Electronics Association, and helped support the AEA’s political endeavors on various initiatives affecting Silicon Valley companies.  He also served on the Board of Trustees and as Treasurer for Villa Montalvo, and helped turn the organization profitable, while also embarking on a significant expansion project, during his tenure there.

Joe received a BSC, summa cum laude, from SCU in 1977.  He is a Certified Public Accountant in California, and continues to attend required ongoing professional education courses.  He also attended the Executive Development Program put on jointly by Stanford University and the American Electronics Association in 1990.
