2025 Rising Alumni Impact Award
Ryan Chew, BSC '15, and Alan Nguyen, BSC '13, received the Rising Alumni Impact Award at the May 14, 2025 Accounting Scholarship and Awards banquet in the Locatelli Center.

Since graduating from Santa Clara in 2015 with a major in Accounting and a minor in Music, Ryan Chew has had the opportunity to work at a few different large and successful organizations in a variety of interesting roles. He started his career at KPMG working on audits of mostly technology clients, ranging from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies. After 3+ years of public accounting (i.e. audits), he made the jump to the Corporate world and joined Intuitive Surgical, the global pioneer and leader in robotic assisted surgical tools. At Intuitive, Ryan's responsibilities included revenue accounting, deals support, forecasting, managing operating expense budgets, and providing business finance support for operational units. From there, Ryan moved on to Intuit, the global software company known for its Turbo Tax and QuickBooks products, where he is currently a Lead in their Strategic Finance group - that group is responsible for a wide range of key business and analytical functions that are focused on growing the company.
In addition to flourishing in his career, Ryan has been very actively involved with Santa Clara since graduating. He has helped organize alumni gatherings and lead mentoring events; he has served on the Accounting Alumni Board and participated on the Corporate Panel; and for the past several years, he has been the Moderator of the Accounting Information Night, a key event that the department holds annually to drive interest in the field of Accounting.
Beyond his involvement and leadership at Santa Clara, Ryan serves as a member of the Board of Regents at Archbishop Mitty High School and chairs one of their Committees.
He and his wife Jenna (SCU Class of 2016) live in San Jose with their dog Benson and are expecting their first child later this summer.
Alan Nguyen, a distinguished alumnus of Santa Clara University, has forged a remarkable path marked by professional excellence and dedicated community service. Graduating in 2013 with a degree in Accounting and Information Systems, his time at Santa Clara was characterized by vibrant involvement across campus, serving in roles such as a teaching assistant in accounting, contributing to the Leavey School of Business Dean's Office, and participating in the Men's Varsity rowing team. Alan's leadership extended to the Accelerated Cooperative Education (ACE) business school honors program and the Associated Student Government Supreme Court, reflecting a commitment to academic and extracurricular excellence.
Alan's professional journey began at PwC, where he has ascended to the position of Advisory Director in the Cyber, Risk, and Regulatory Practice. His expertise spans critical industries, including Technology, Private Equity, and Health Care - Insurance, showcasing a versatile and impactful career.
Beyond his professional achievements, Alan is deeply committed to community engagement and education. In 2020, he joined the Board of Directors for Outward Bound California, where he has made significant contributions as the Finance and Audit Committee Chair since 2021. His leadership in this capacity underscores a passion for fostering outdoor education and personal growth through experiential learning.
Alan's dedication to academia continues as he serves on the Accounting Alumni Board of Santa Clara University's Accounting Department, lending his expertise to shape the future of accounting education. His role as an Adjunct Lecturer in 2024 further exemplifies his commitment to nurturing the next generation of business leaders, as he shares his knowledge in Accounting Information Systems with aspiring students.

His journey reflects a profound dedication to both professional and community pursuits, earning him recognition as a true leader in his field.
