Haoning Richter
Haoning Richter joined the accounting department as an adjunct faculty in Winter 2019. She taught ACTG 12 Managerial Accounting in both Winter and Spring 2019. Starting Fall 2019, Haoning began teaching ACTG 11 Introduction to Financial Accounting for both business majors and non- business majors. In Fall 2020, Haoning will start teaching a brand new course of her own design, ACTG 120 Accounting Data Analysis and Visualization.
Over the past 20+ years, Haoning has gained international experience by working for both large and small companies in Silicon Valley including IBM, WebEx, Cisco, and Oracle. She has held various senior management positions in the following areas:
External audit, Internal Audit, SEC Reporting, Cost Accounting, Financial Planning & Analysis, Sales Operations and Compensation, and Global Process Control Office.
Before Haoning came to the U. S. in 1996, she worked in China as a board member and executive taking the Chinese joint-venture motorcycle company, Sundiro Holding Ltd. public in 1994.
Haoning earned both her B. S. degree in Accounting and Management Information Systems and her MBA from San Jose State University.
In April 2019, Haoning completed the one-year “Database and Data Analytics” certification program from UCSC Silicon Valley.
Haoning holds the following active licenses and certifications:
- CPA – licensed in California since 2002
- Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) since 2009
- Corporate Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP) since 2015
- COSO Certified by the Institute of Internal Auditors since 2016
Haoning has been a board member of the Financial Executives International (FEI) Silicon Valley Chapter since 2018.
Outside of work, Haoning enjoys playing racquetball with her husband and a group of friends, practicing yoga, cycling, and playing board games. Haoning is a certified racquetball instructor. Since 2005, she has been a racquetball player sponsored by several brands including Prince Sports, Ektelon, and ProKennex. In February 2020, Haoning and her doubles partner won the Bronze in the U. S. A. National Racquetball Doubles Tournament in Tempe, Arizona.
