Shireen AlAzzawi is a Lecturer in the Economics Department, Leavey School of Business, Santa Clara University, USA and a Research Fellow at the Economic Research Forum, Egypt. She teaches courses in international economics and economic development.
Professor AlAzzawi’s research focuses on poverty and inequality, labor economics and international trade, with special emphasis on the Middle East and North Africa. She has published her work in the Review of Income and Wealth, the International Journal of Manpower, the Forum for Social Economics, the Journal of Income Distribution, Peace Economics, Peace Science and Public Policy, the Middle East Development Journal, the Quarterly Review of Economics and Finance, Economic Development and Cultural Change and The Journal of International Trade and Economic Development, among other scholarly journals.
Shireen received her Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California, Davis and has Masters degrees from Stanford University and the American University in Cairo. Before joining Santa Clara, Professor AlAzzawi was an Assistant Professor at the American University in Cairo. She has also taught at San Jose State University and at the University of California, Davis.
