John Ifcher teaches courses in microeconomics, behavioral economics, the economics of the public sector, and the economics of poverty and income inequality.
His recent research focuses on decision making on behalf of others, subjective well-being, social welfare programs, and the impact of economics instruction. One recent paper investigates the impact of relative income on subjective well-being; another investigates competitive preferences and decision making on behalf of others. He has published articles in the American Economic Review, the European Economic Review, Experimental Economics, the Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization, the Journal of Economic Psychology, the Journal of Happiness Studies, the Journal of Health Economics, and Management Science.
John Ifcher received his Ph.D. in economics from the University of California at Berkeley. He also received a M.P.A. degree from the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University, and a B.S. in computer science and psychology from the University of Michigan.
