Sofia Kotsiri joined the Leavey School of Business in the fall of 2017, teaching macroeconomics. She has received her Ph.D. in economics from North Carolina State University in 2013 and has completed both her Master's and Bachelor's in Greece, where she is originally from. She has worked as a postdoc for Purdue University and her research focuses in agricultural economics and, in particular, precision farming technologies and local food. She has been awarded for her teaching excellence from the Agricultural and Applied Economics Association (AAEA).
