Karl Motey Bio 

Karl Motey is a finance executive who teaches undergraduate and graduate level courses in finance and is a faculty advisor in the Santa Clara MSFA industry practicum program. He brings to Santa Clara a breadth of knowledge and  experience in business, both in corporate finance and investment banking.  

Karl is currently a corporate strategy and finance advisor to several companies. Prior to that,  he was the head of Corporate Development for various semiconductor and  technology companies. Karl has handled both public and private M&A transactions of various sizes, including several high-profile mergers in Silicon Valley.  

Prior to his career in corporate finance, Karl was a leading sell side analyst covering the semiconductor industry for over 10 years. His sell side analyst experience includes Wachovia (now Wells Fargo), Deutsche Bank and Alex.  Brown. He was chosen to Wall Street Journal’s annual “Best on The Street” analyst  rankings in 2005. 

Karl holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the Isenberg School  of Management, at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and a Master of  Science in Finance degree from Indiana University (Kelley School of Business) in  Bloomington.
