Dr. Xiang (Shawn) Wan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Information Systems and Analytics at Santa Clara University's Leavey School of Business. His research investigates how emerging technologies, particularly AI and blockchain, reshape decision-making and competition, and how these technologies can be steered to generate better outcomes for the economy and society. His work spans three interconnected domains: AI and the digital economy, FinTech and blockchain, and human-algorithm interaction.

Dr. Wan's scholarship has been published in Management Science, Information Systems Research, the Journal of Operations Management, and Production and Operations Management. He received the ACM SIGMIS Doctoral Dissertation First Runner-Up Award at the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS 2022) and the Best Dissertation First Runner-Up Award at the Workshop on Information Technologies and Systems (WITS 2021).

Dr. Wan holds a Ph.D. in Information Systems and Operations Management from the University of Florida, an M.S. in Management Science and Engineering from Renmin University of China, and a B.S. in Engineering Management from Wuhan University.
