Professor Tsay comments on a new partnership between Alibaba's Tmall.com shopping portal (China's leading B2C website) and the USDA, whereby American food products such as Northwest cherries and Alaskan seafood are sold to Chinese consumers on a pre-order basis. The program uses a group-buying sales model in which the price to each buyer decreases as more buyers purchase the sale item.
