Dr. Shaohua Lu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Management and Entrepreneurship at Santa Clara University's Leavey School of Business, where she teaches Strategic Analysis across the undergraduate, Evening MBA, and Online MBA programs.
Dr. Lu's research examines how firms respond to shifting technological and market environments, with particular emphasis on technological transitions, competitive dynamics, and entrepreneurial outcomes. Her recent work explores how heterogeneity in resources, resource constraints, and contextual conditions shapes firm investment decisions and how sourcing strategies evolve over time. She has a particular interest in the transition of electric utilities toward renewable energy in the U.S. power industry, contributing to broader conversations on sustainability. Her scholarship has been published in Research Policy, the Journal of Management, Academy of Management Discoveries, and Advances in Strategic Management.
Before her doctoral studies, Dr. Lu worked as a case writer at the Case Development Center of China Europe International Business School (CEIBS).
Dr. Lu holds a Ph.D. in Strategic Management from The Ohio State University.
