Albert V. Bruno, Professor Emeritus, earned a B.S. (with honors), an MBA and Ph.D. at the Krannert School of Management at Purdue University.  While at Santa Clara, he has at various times served as founding director of the Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship, (now the Ciciotti Center), associate and acting dean, and marketing department chair.   For over 10 years, he served as the academic dean of the SCU- Italian Fulbright Program which brought 10 -20 Italian entrepreneurs to SCU to work on venture ideas and develop their business plans.   

Bruno has an international reputation as a consultant and seminar leader.  He has lectured and consulted for a variety of US and international organizations including Smith Kline, Applied Materials, Amdahl, Cadence Design, Chevron, Apple, Peat Marwick, Olivetti, IBM, 3M, and many others.  He has given seminars in many international locations including, Paris, Rouen, Deggendorf, Florence, Rome, Milan, Athens, Jakarta, Hong Kong, Singapore, Bangkok, Mexico City, Buenos Aires, Santiago, Sao Paulo, Lima, London, and Bogota.  He has taught at Harvard University as a visiting research scholar and at the Naval Postgraduate School.

In 1982, Professor Bruno was one of 13 recipients in the United States, of the Leavey Foundation Award for excellence in private enterprise education.  In the same year, he was honored with the Glenn Klimek Professorship at Santa Clara, which he held for 16 years.  He became the William T. Cleary Endowed Professor in 1985 and held this honor until his retirement.  His many articles, research publications, and book chapters have been published in a diverse set of business journals and periodicals,  His book, The Market Value Process:  Bridging Customer and Shareholder Value, was published by Jossey Bass in 1996 and republished in German in 1998.  His co-authored monograph, From Good Intentions to Real Impact:  Solutions for Impact Investors was published in 2009 by the Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors.

He is the founder and serves as the academic dean for the St Gallen MBE Program at Santa Clara and the Politecnico di Milano program under the auspices of the Silicon Valley Executive Center (now Leavey Executive Center) and is also the co-founder of the Global Social Benefit Incubator under the sponsorship of the Miller Center for Social Entrepreneurship.  His collaboration with an alumnus, Pat Guerra, has resulted in a venture development program, the “Silicon Valley School,” a collaboration between SCU and the Deggendorf Institute of Technology in Germany.

Professor Bruno has served on the board or advisory boards of a number of private and public companies. He has given expert testimony in more than 20 major cases and was a limited partner investor in several venture capital funds.
