Santa Clara University's 4+1 Program allows undergraduates from any major to get a head start on a master's degree in Business Analytics, Finance and Analytics, or Information Systems. By beginning graduate coursework while still completing your bachelor’s degree, you can finish the master's program in about 10 months–on average two quarters faster than pursuing the degrees separately. This accelerated pathway helps you advance your education while building in-demand technical business skills.

Admission Requirements and Process
Earning a master's degree through the 4+1 program is an excellent way to accelerate your education and strengthen your career opportunities. Review the requirements and steps below to ensure your application is complete and competitive.
Academic Requirements
To be considered for admission, students must meet the following academic standards:
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3 at the time of application.
- Completion of coursework that supports preparation for a STEM-designated graduate program (to be reviewed with an admissions officer).
- GRE/GMAT scores are not required; optional submissions must be provided by May 1 of senior year.
- Eligibility to apply begins after Fall grades are posted in junior year.
- A maximum of 12 graduate credits may be earned during senior year (typically one graduate core per quarter).
Application Materials
Your application is complete when the following documents have been submitted:
- Completed online application
- Two letters of recommendation (one must be from a professor; others may come from employers, mentors, or professional contacts)
- Transcripts from all undergraduate coursework; additional copies may be requested
- Personal statement outlining academic preparation and professional goals
- Resume or CV highlighting academic achievements, leadership roles, and relevant experience

- Admission decisions typically follow soon after the application deadline.
Preparation Tips
To set yourself up for success in the application process, consider the following:
- Attend information sessions or schedule advising appointments early (freshman through junior year) to plan coursework and prerequisites.
- Meet with your undergraduate advisor to confirm graduation requirements and maintain full-time enrollment alongside graduate-level courses.
- Stay in touch with the Graduate Business Programs Admissions Office and the program staff who oversee your MS degree for guidance on course registration and program planning.
- Be mindful of credit transfer rules: up to 12 graduate units may be applied, but they are program-specific and cannot be transferred to multiple graduate degrees.
- A grade of a B or higher is necessary for credit accrual. Failing to do so will lead to the dismissal of the student from the program.

4+1 Scholarship Information
Santa Clara University seniors save significant time and money by participating in the 4+1 program. After graduation, a small amount of additional merit scholarship may be awarded, based on the graduating GPA and any new internships/leadership roles.
