Sophia Tallud : Small Team Driving Major Changes
My involvement has been both enlightening and deeply rewarding, providing me with direct engagement with community efforts that have a tangible impact on individuals' lives. Within my first month, I have gained substantial insights into event coordination, specifically helping organize events and initiatives that further the development of Latino students.
One aspect of working at the Hispanic Foundation of Silicon Valley that has profoundly impacted me is witnessing the outsized influence a small team can have. At the Foundation’s annual ball, its largest fundraising event, I saw firsthand the extensive planning and execution by our team of nine that attracted support from major companies. This experience was not only inspiring but also a testament to the power of a small, dedicated team to affect significant change, directly touching the lives of hundreds of families and inspiring others to empower their communities. Each member brings a distinct set of skills and perspectives, enabling them to tackle complex challenges with innovative solutions and a shared commitment to excellence. This team’s dedication is a symbol of what can be achieved with focused collaboration and an unwavering commitment to make a meaningful difference in the world.
In my role as a Fellow, I am eager to engage directly with community members through workshops and events, helping to provide educational resources and professional development opportunities. By doing so, I hope to foster a stronger sense of community and belonging, helping to bridge the gap between Hispanic individuals and the high-tech industry.
