When I think back on my four years at Santa Clara, I can truthfully say choosing to attend this University was one of the best decisions of my life. This school and its community have helped me grow and shaped me into the person I am today. Since this is the last time I will be able to engage with you all, I thought I would leave a couple of pieces of advice.  

1. Find your community at SCU. Santa Clara is a smaller school in terms of the number of students, but it is incredibly diverse in thought. There is a place for everyone at this school, no matter who you are or what interests you. I promise you can find like-minded people here. So, go out and find them. It's never too late to get involved or meet new people. Don't just sit in your dorm waiting for people to come to you because that probably won't work. But if you put in the effort, you will find yourself surrounded by amazing people. 
2. Engage with your professors. The professors you will meet at Santa Clara are brilliant and they can teach you to see the world in new ways. Take advantage of this. Go into office hours. If your professors are willing to get coffee, do it! You will learn so much about them and gain so much more knowledge than you can in one lecture or class. Many of our professors have industry experience and can give you actual insight into what possible careers would be like. Furthermore, they can connect you to people in the industry for internships and jobs. These are massive opportunities that you won't get nearly the same exposure to just showing up to class every day. 
3. Enjoy. You will hear it 1,000 times but these four years will go by in a blink of an eye. Try to take a second, step back, and just enjoy the amazing opportunity you have to be a part of SCU. Live in the moment and make college your own. Try not to get too down on yourself or worry too much. It's all a part of the ride and I promise it's a fantastic one.
