Areas of Interest at SCU and Leavey: Entering college, I knew right away that I wanted to pursue marketing. As a Marketing major with a Retail Studies minor, I have developed a strong interest in the cosmetic and fashion industry. I’m drawn to the creativity behind experiential marketing and enjoy learning about brand strategy, consumer behavior, and brand campaigns.

What are your SCU and Leavey activities/general hobbies: On campus I am part of Delta Sigma Pi, the Co-Ed Professional Business Fraternity, Women in Business, and an Off-Campus Sorority. Outside of academics, I enjoy trying new desserts, catching the sunset, using the Caltrain to travel all over the Bay Area, and playing board games with my friends. Ask me about the best study spots around campus, as I am always venturing off to find new places!

What internship/employment opportunities have you taken advantage of at Leavey? This school offers a variety of internship resources including Career Fairs, Handshake, LinkedIn and more. Before taking Contemporary Business Ideas (BUSN-70), I had never used LinkedIn. Thanks to Professor Burns, who helped all of his students set up their LinkedIn profiles, I was able to land my first internship position during my freshman year.

Favorite Leavey Class and Why?  My favorite LSB class has been Global Business (MGMT-80) with Brian Thomas. Throughout the course, we engaged in numerous group discussions, debates about current events, and group presentations. This collaborative approach was different from the usual lecture-style courses I had experienced before. Professor Thomas was always willing to help his students with course material and talk about anything in general. Faculty members like Professor Thomas, who have an extensive professional background with a genuine care for their students, are what makes the Leavey School of Business so special.

What made you choose to attend Leavey? The moment I stepped onto campus, I noticed the genuine smiles, excitement and strong sense of community. From hearing the laughter of students roaming around campus to strangers holding open the door for one another, the authentic spirit of community is what made the Leavey School of Business stand out to me.

What advice you wish you had while applying to college? Trust your gut. The college admissions process can be a very stressful time, but keeping an open mind and a positive attitude will take you far. Believe in yourself and trust that everything will work out in the end.
