What are you doing this summer? This summer, I worked as a Store Executive Intern at Target Corporation, where I gained hands-on experience in leading store operations and supporting team development. I collaborated with leaders across all departments to improve the guest experience, drive sales, and strengthen team engagement.
Hopefully you’ve grown both professionally and personally from this summer experience. Name one or two “life” lessons you learned and will carry forward after graduation. One of the most valuable life lessons I learned this summer was how important it is to be open to feedback. As an intern receiving constructive feedback from my mentors helped me grow more confident in my leadership style and identify areas for improvement. I’ll carry this mindset forward, knowing that feedback is an essential part of learning and developing both personally and professionally.
What has been the most memorable part of your experience? The most memorable part of my summer experience was being part of a corporate visit from Target’s Headquarters to my store. Since these visits only happen every 10 years, it was truly an honor to experience it as an intern. Meeting Target’s Executive Vice President and Chief Stores Officer and being able to ask her questions was both inspiring and motivating.
What advice would you give to younger students who are searching for summer opportunities?
Tailor your resume to each position you apply for by highlighting the skills and experiences most relevant to the role. This shows employers that you’ve put thought into your application and helps you stand out!
