What are you doing this summer? During the summer, I interned at Gap Inc in New York City. It was an amazing opportunity where I got to improve my technical skills while learning from talented mentors and peers in cross functional projects with the Finance, Asset Protection, and Legal teams at Gap Inc. My projects included supporting AP Capital Monthly Forecasting and creating automation tools for financial and legal processes resulting in significant time reduction and improved data accuracy.

Hopefully you’ve grown both professionally and personally from this summer experience. Name one or two “life” lessons you learned and will carry forward after graduation. A key lesson from this summer was the importance of adaptability. For example, projects can shift direction once new information emerges resulting in having to pivot quickly and redesign the process. Staying flexible and adjusting to these changes ultimately led to stronger results, highlighting how valuable being open to change is for growth and success both professionally and personally.

What has been the most memorable part of your experience? The most memorable part of my summer was living in the heart of a new city and experiencing all it had to offer while interning at such a wonderful company. I was inspired by Gap Inc.’s amazing culture and had the chance to connect with incredible mentors and peers. The personal and professional connections I built this summer are ones I will carry forward with me.

What advice would you give to younger students who are searching for summer opportunities? Keep an open mind and focus on networking early; not only can it lead to internship opportunities, but to also better understand what career paths genuinely interest you. Apply strategically to roles that align with your goals using a quality-over-quantity approach.
