Next Steps for Advising & Fall Registration
As a new student, it’s crucial to understand the university's academic regulations and requirements. We’re here to help you navigate this process. This summer, we're offering additional support to ensure you're well-prepared for your registration. Before attending orientation, please complete the following steps to ensure you can access fall course registration:
- Take the Calculus Readiness Exam (CRE), also known as ALEKS:
This is available now through your MySCU Portal. All business students are required to take math courses, though not all are required to take the CRE/ALEKS. To determine if you need to take the exam, please take a look at the information here.
If you haven’t completed the exam by the deadline, please complete it as soon as possible to ensure you are placed in the correct math course.

- Complete the Language Placement Survey: The survey is open now and accessible through your MySCU Portal. All business students are required to meet second-level language proficiency.
If you haven’t completed the survey by the deadline, please complete it as soon as possible to ensure you can enroll in the correct foreign language course.
