Resources for Recent Graduates

(Graduated in the Last Five Years)

Whether you are looking for job search strategies or pivoting from your current job, here are the services available to you.

The Career Center provides four free career coaching sessions per calendar year to help meet your career management needs.


Appointments include:
  • Strategies for navigating the job search and career transition process
  • Creation of a powerful and focused resume and LinkedIn profile.

How to schedule: You must have a Handshake account to schedule an appointment. To sign up for a free Handshake account send an email to the Career Center at careercenter@scu.edu. Once your account is set up, follow these steps:
  1. 1. Click the button below and log in to Handshake. You’ll be directed to the Appointments page. If not, select “Appointments” from the left menu.
  2. 2. Follow the prompts to indicate your status, select the type of appointment, and choose a time slot.
  3. 3. If you can't find a suitable time, call (408) 554-4421 for assistance.

NEW: Recent Grad Job Search Strategy Program A five-week program offered once a quarter which has been designed to support recent graduates during the first six months post-graduation. If you have any questions, reach out to Myriam Bartz - Alumni and Graduate students.

 

Resources for All Alumni

(Graduated More Than Five Years)

The Career Center provides one free career coaching session per calendar year to walk you through the resources available to you. If you need more support, here is a list of Independent Career Coaches who have worked with SCU alumni that you can employ to assist you in your career journey. You can also explore the Alumni Association's Bronco Business Registry (under the Health & Wellness section) if you are looking for services in mental health or life coaching.

  • Job Prep Toolkit
    Alumni have access to the Job Prep Toolkit and career preparation content including help with resumes, cover letters, LinkedIn profiles, networking, and salary information.

  • Career Center Events
    Alumni are welcome to join the many Career Center events, including virtual career fairs and employer sessions that take place every quarter. Register for events via Handshake.

  • Platforms for Connecting with Broncos

    • Join Bronco Exchange, an exclusive and easy-to-use platform that connects Santa Clara University alumni, students, faculty, staff, and friends in a virtual community, providing you unprecedented access to the SCU network.
    • The LinkedIn Alumni Tool puts information at your fingertips so you can find and connect with Broncos in any industry and every geographic region allowing you to discover who's doing what and where. Follow along on our demo video below!
  • Alumni Association
    The Alumni Association also provides career support in the form of career related webinars, industry groups, and alumni events that offer opportunities to network throughout the year. Check out the Alumni Events Calendar.


Requesting an Alumni Handshake Account
Accessing Handshake (Grads prior to 2017)
As an alumnus/a of SCU you may access Handshake to sign up for services such as job fairs and events. Request a free alumnus/a Handshake account to get started by sending an email to the Career Center at careercenter@scu.edu. Once your information is confirmed, an account will be created for you.

As an alumnus/a of SCU, you will no longer be able to access your Handshake account using single sign on. To log into your account, please take the following steps:

  1. Visit https://scu.joinhandshake.com or access Handshake through our website
  2. On the login landing page, click “sign in with your email address” just below the “Santa Clara University Sign on” Button

  3. You will then be redirected to use your email address to login
