Dear College Faculty and Staff,
As we conclude the last week of January, I look forward to returning to fully in-person learning on Monday. Meanwhile, we have had a few pieces of great news for our College community that I wanted to share.
First, I want to offer my congratulations to Michelle Bezanson (Anthropology) and Janice Edgerly-Rooks (Biology) who were both named Fellows by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) this week! This lifetime appointment is a big deal, and one of the most distinct honors within the scientific community. Michelle was selected for her research into primate locomotion as well as her critical analysis of primate field research and conservation practice. Janice was selected for her work with embiopterans, or webspinners, and her dedication to teaching the next generation of scientists. As I mentioned in our public announcement, these accomplishments embody the best of Santa Clara and continue to engage and inspire our students. Bravo!
In other good news, our Public Health Program has been ranked #7 in the nation for undergraduate public health degrees by College Factual! This ranking is up from #20 in 2018 and places us 2nd (behind #1 Berkeley) in California and the West. Congratulations to this incredible program and all of our Public Health faculty and staff that continue to ensure its success.
Sincerely,
Daniel
