Dear College Faculty and Staff,
October continues to be an eventful month — pivoting from the back-to-school, reunion and Presidential Inauguration events, we hosted Sinatra Artist-in-Residence Mark Duplass and then SCU alumnus Reza Aslan '95 (Religious Studies). Reza discussed his new book, An American Martyr in Persia: The Epic Life and Tragic Death of Howard Baskerville. Reza was very pleased to be back on campus, and turnout for his talk was terrific!
This month is also a time of transition in our College community. Next week, we will begin reviewing applicants for our Assistant Dean position (replacing Rafael Ulate). We will also start hosting TT finalist candidates on campus, a process that goes on well into winter quarter.
We also bid farewell to Victoria Walton, Lab Associate, who for ten years expertly served the STEM departments (mostly Biology) in the College – Victoria, you will be sorely missed!
Meanwhile, Halloween is upon us, after which Fall Quarter seems to accelerate into a sprint to the end of classes, just 5 weeks from today. So take good care of yourselves, and keep us updated with your wonderful activities for next week’s College Notes.
Onward!
Daniel
