Dear College Faculty and Staff,
I am thrilled to finally share the second video in our “Explored” series — Social Justice Explored: Why Social Justice Should be Taught in the Classroom.
We have been working really hard throughout winter quarter to bring this to life. A huge thank you goes out to Brett Solomon in Child Studies for anchoring this video for us, and for suggesting the incredible students whose experiences we feature, including Grace Leete ’23 (Sociology, Child Studies), Oliver Robinson ’23 (Communication), and Eloise Scott ’23 (Child Studies, Political Science).
I hope that the video’s message resonates with you like it does for me and the team who put it together – we feel it conveys Santa Clara’s Jesuit education and its aspirations for social justice in a compelling and engaging way.
We are busy working on a third video to release during spring quarter. Stay tuned…you won’t want to miss it!
For now, please enjoy!
Daniel
Part of educating the whole person is opening up one's world view—to understand others, their needs and experiences—by placing students in community. In today's world, it's critical that students have the space to embody the experiences of others, time to discern, to unpack, and the will to act in order to be a positive force in the world.
