Dear Alumni and Friends,
On behalf of all my colleagues, it gives me great pleasure to publish another issue of our department newsletter. As you read through, you'll see that this year our department was particularly active. In particular, we welcome Dr. Di Di and Dr. Molly King, two new tenure track Assistant professors. With the addition of new faculty, we hope to enrich our curriculum and provide more comprehensive support to our students. This coming academic year also brings a revision of our course requirements. Our department has streamlined our major to make it more appealing and flexible without sacrificing the rigor that separates a Santa Clara education from other institutions. With regards to internships, I am happy to report our students continued to take advantage of this offering and of the financial grants we offer in the department. Finally, last June, our colleague Dr. Marilyn Fernandez decided to retire after generously serving our department, university, and profession admirably for over two decades. This is a significant loss for our department but I am reassured Marilyn will always be around. The Department unanimously supported her Emeritus Professor status. We always appreciate our alumni who come back and meet with our students and speak in our classes as well as host our students for internships. Please do let me know if you would like to have one of our students as an Intern. Looking forward to next year, and we hope you have an enjoyable summer and always remain in touch with us.
