Connect with Campus Ministry

We are here for you! If you come into our office or meet us out and about around campus, you will find that we are a friendly group of people who want to support you. We are full-time ministers with Master’s degrees, graduate students, and undergraduate students who want to help you find a sense of home at SCU.

Campus Ministers are available for one-on-one conversations about life, questions, spirituality, and faith, as well as regular spiritual direction. We foster the spiritual lives of students through a range of programs, such as liturgies, retreats, small groups, interfaith dinners, and sacramental formation opportunities.

If you wish to connect with a Campus Minister, you can find their contact information below:

Navigate here to Service Opportunities

Join us as we volunteer at this wonderful non-profit that serves low-income families in San Jose with free food, clothing and educational services. This is a bi-weekly (every other Friday) opportunity to help in the food pantry to prepare nutritional items for the community. Service Opportunity | Community members are welcome to join us for the Watsonville Farmworker reality tours. Once per quarter, we travel to the Watsonville community to better understand the reality and conditions of migrant farmworkers in Northern California by sharing in their lives, food, and living quarters. The tour will include q&a with the farmers, a tour of the farm and the communities in which they live, as well as a dinner hosted by the farmworker families. In participating in these trips, we hope to become part of a community that seeks to improve the well-being of farmworkers and their family members. For more information or to participate, contact Victor Lemus, Campus Minister for Community Justice Formation with any questions.

Ignatian Life Community (ILC)

Ignatian Life Community (ILC) is a group of students, faculty, and staff who strive to accompany one another in community, spirituality, and service. It is inspired by the model of Ignatian Spirituality, a spiritual practice that welcomes the Divine, finds Them in all things, and helps us discern our role in this life. ILCs meet weekly in small groups of 6-10 members and gather for larger events and activities, such as social gatherings, faith services, and/or service opportunities. Each small group has its own theme determined by the leaders. We hope to build this program to reflect SCU's diversity. For example, we would love to have an ILC for queer students, BIPOC students, students in specific academic programs, etc.

  • Belong: ILC welcomes all to community and relationship.
  • Believe: ILC accompanies members on a pathway to Love and an encounter of the Divine.
  • Become: ILC inspires members to discover their holistic, authentic, and beautiful selves and empowers them to share their gifts to be a person with and for others.

We are looking for Juniors and Seniors to be small group leaders! For those who are interested in strengthening their leadership skills, exploring what it means to care for your whole self (cura personalis), and looking to serve communities in need, this role is for you. Since it is a voluntary role, we understand that your time is precious as a student. Therefore, this program is designed to accommodate your other responsibilities. The following is the estimated time commitment for student leaders:

  • Leadership Formation: 10 hours (Dinner on November 11, 5-7pm & Workshop on November 12, 9-5pm)
  • Small groups: 2-3 hours/week (1 for prep, 1 for gathering)
  • Team Meetings: 1 hour, twice a month
  • Social/Service Activities : TBD by the type of activity chosen by your small group

If you've arrived at this sentence after all this information, then you should apply to be a leader! There will be a short interview process to gauge your compatibility with this program. Once you complete the simple application, Elise Dubravec - Campus Minister for Spiritual Formation will follow up to schedule an interview. Any questions? Contact Elise!

Religiously Affiliated Student Groups

Santa Clara University students represent a beautiful diversity of faith and wisdom traditions. Student-led religious organizations offer you an opportunity to grow and deepen in your particular tradition, or to learn about a tradition that is new to you, supported by a community of friends. Many of these student-led religious organizations can also connect you with local faith communities. We encourage you to try different groups to find the place that most resonates with your heart and soul.
