Kalpana Asok, is a licensed marriage and family therapist, a 1993 graduate alumna of SCU, and she is a practicing psychotherapist in the Bay Area. She works with adults in her independent practice, helping couples and individuals improve their most fundamental relationships, and teaching them to grow towards peace and understanding. She is the author of a book on cultural competence in helping therapists and other professionals understand their South Asian clients better – Whose Baby Is It, Anyway? Inside the Indian Heart. She is also the author of Everyday Flowers, a volume of poetry. She grew up in India with Hindu, Jesuit and Buddhist influences and tries to live her life with congruence in thought, speech, and action. In her free time, she enjoys writing poetry and reading too much news.
