Affording a graduate education can be challenging.  To help our students, we offer over $2 million in tuition scholarships and other programs for currently enrolled and newly admitted students. The FAFSA is currently not required to be considered for a SCU scholarship.  The application process is included in the online admissions application.   Please contact our office at 408-551-3422 or email us at ecpscholarships@scu.edu for any questions or other inquiries

This Fellowship was created to provide a 50% tuition scholarship to students pursuing the Master of Arts in Teaching and Teaching Credential (MATTC) program. Students complete coursework at our East San Jose campus, engage in community service, and agree to teach at a high-need school for two years following graduation.

Excellence in Catholic Education and Leadership (ExCEL) supports Catholic school educators through a program committed to developing teachers pedagogically, spiritually, and communally; and working for social justice through educational equity. Students receive a 100% tuition scholarship and work as teachers for TK-12 Catholic schools in local Dioceses, while also living in community with one another.

Catholic Master of Arts in Teaching (CatMAT) is a two-year program designed to help current Catholic school teachers earn their MAT and California teaching credential. CatMAT students take intensive summer course loads, with only few courses during the school year, so they can focus more fully on their jobs. All full-time Catholic school teachers are eligible to join CatMAT, and they receive a 50% tuition reduction for the program.

Kenneth Blaker Endowed Scholarship Fund

This scholarship was established in 2007 and is a gift from SCU alumni, students, staff, faculty, and friends. This scholarship provides assistance to counseling psychology students in financial need.

Molina Bernadett Latino Counseling Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to a graduate student who is pursuing a MA in Counseling Psychology, enrolled in the Latino Counseling emphasis, and intends to pursue licensure as an MFT or LPCC counseling psychologist. Preference will be given to bicultural and/or bilingual students demonstrating a commitment to serving the mental health needs of the Latinx community.

The Pride Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to a graduate student who is pursuing a MA in Counseling Psychology and is also enrolled in the LGBTQ+ Counseling emphasis. The award will be granted to an individual who demonstrates outstanding potential for, and interest in, serving the mental health needs of the LGBTQ+ community.

Bernice Lynch Bajada Endowed Scholarship

This gift is from Bernice Lynch Bajada, 1978 MA Marriage and Family Counseling alumna. The scholarship provides financial assistance to graduate students pursuing their degree in Marriage and Family Counseling. Recipients should demonstrate financial need.

Jill Lillie Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship provides assistance to graduate students pursuing a MA in Counseling Psychology with the greatest demonstrated financial need. Preference will be given to a student who has demonstrated kindness and compassion as a personal value and exhibits a deep commitment to the program

Tone Yao Lee Counseling Psychology Scholarship Fund

The purpose of this endowment fund is to provide scholarships for licensure-track Counseling Psychology students who demonstrate tremendous promise as a therapist and who are committed to serving the mental health needs of children, adolescents, and young adults, and especially to those committed to working with young people struggling with depression. Preference is given to providing a scholarship for students who need the financial assistance during their practicum year and whose practicum work is focused in this area.

Edwin J. Brown Endowed Fellowship Fund

This scholarship was established in 1965 and is for a full-time male student obtaining his multiple or single subject teaching credential.

Jim & Pauline Mahon Scholarship

This scholarship was created to provide financial assistance for a graduate student in the Educational Leadership program. Applicants must demonstrate a futuristic vision for education, a strong commitment to the field of administration, a genuine care for children, and a strong sense of the value of education.

Nancy Ottoboni Endowed Scholarship for Catholic Education

This scholarship will support the educational development of teachers in Catholic schools who are enrolled in the Department of Education. Strong preference will be given to qualified students with financial need who are currently teaching in a Catholic elementary or high school within the geographic boundaries of the Diocese of San Jose and who are pursuing a Master’s degree and/or credential.

M. Priscilla Myers Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship provides support for a student actively enrolled in the Master of Arts in Teaching and Teaching Credential (MATTC) program. Students who apply for this scholarship must take two of Professor Priscilla Myer's reading classes before they graduate from the master’s program.

This fund provides scholarships for graduate students in the School of Education and Counseling Psychology, with a preference for students studying Special Education.

Janice M. Kyne Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship provides financial assistance to graduate students enrolled in the Special Education program. Candidates for this scholarship must demonstrate a sensitivity about the needs and issues of special education students and their families, a compassion for every individual's unique situation, an ability to work effectively for the best interests of special education students, and dedication to the field of special education. Candidates should be in good academic standing and must demonstrate financial need. Special consideration will be given to those who have already completed nine (9) units of coursework within the special education program.

James W. Trent Education Scholarship Fund

This scholarship was established to provide financial assistance to students who exhibit an exceptionally high commitment to education, broadly embracing and serving their communities. Preference will be given to underrepresented minority graduate students or to graduate students who are first generation college students.

Tone Yao Lee Education Scholarship Fund

The purpose of this endowment fund is to provide scholarships for students in one of the single-subject teaching credential programs who will teach at the middle or high school level. Preference will be given to students who demonstrate a high level of financial need and whose passion is ensuring a Jesuit-inspired “whole child” education, with attention to supporting students’ well-being and development, both in the classroom and beyond.

Anita Goble Endowed Education Scholarship

This fund provides scholarships for Master's Degree students pursuing research with any full-time faculty member. Recipients should demonstrate good academic standing and financial need. Preference will be given to Teacher Education candidates.

Edward M.Fellows Foundation Scholarship

This scholarship was established in 1981 by the Estate of Triscilla Fellows Foundation and provides financial assistance to deserving education and counseling psychology students.

This scholarship was established in 1981 for graduate students in education and counseling psychology, with a focus on special education.

Local Catholic Partners Scholarship

This scholarship is available to employees of the Diocese of San Jose, Cristo Rey School, Sacred Heart Nativity School, Catholic Charities, and schools of the Foundation for Hispanic Education.  A tuition scholarship is available for up to 50% for teachers, counselors, and administrators who are taking graduate courses in the School of Education and Counseling Psychology. This scholarship does not apply to the Doctor of Education program.
