Affording a graduate education can be challenging. To help our students, we offer over $2 million in tuition scholarships and other programs for newly admitted and current students. The application process for all scholarships is included in the online admissions application. Please answer the prompts and submit a detailed essay for the scholarship(s) you are interested in. The FAFSA is currently not required to be considered for a SCU scholarship.

Semilla Teacher Fellowship

This Fellowship was created to provide a 50% tuition scholarship to students pursuing the Master of Arts in Teaching and Teaching Credential (MATTC) program. Students complete coursework at our East San Jose campus, engage in community service, and agree to teach at a high-need school for two years following graduation.

Excellence in Catholic Education and Leadership (ExCEL)

Excellence in Catholic Education and Leadership (ExCEL) supports Catholic school educators through a program committed to developing teachers pedagogically, spiritually, and communally; and working for social justice through educational equity. Students receive a 100% tuition scholarship and work as teachers for TK-12 Catholic schools in local Dioceses, while also living in community with one another.

Catholic School Teacher Preparation

Catholic Master of Arts in Teaching (CatMAT) is a two-year program designed to help current Catholic school teachers earn their MAT and California teaching credential. CatMAT students take intensive summer course loads, with only few courses during the school year, so they can focus more fully on their jobs. All full-time Catholic school teachers are eligible to join CatMAT, and they receive a 40% tuition reduction for the program.

Endowed Scholarships

Through the kindness of the School's friends and donors, several Scholarships were generously created to support students studying in Education and Counseling Psychology. Endowed scholarships are annual one-year awards for new students and are awarded in the Fall term. Apply in the application.

Tone Yao Lee Counseling Psychology Scholarship Fund

The purpose of this endowment fund is to provide scholarships for licensure-track Counseling Psychology students who demonstrate tremendous promise as a therapist and who are committed to serving the mental health needs of children, adolescents, and young adults, and especially to those committed to working with young people struggling with depression. Preference is given to providing a scholarship for students who need the financial assistance during their practicum year and whose practicum work is focused in this area.

Tone Yao Lee Education Scholarship Fund

The purpose of this endowment fund is to provide scholarships for students in one of the single-subject teaching credential programs who will teach at the middle or high school level. Preference will be given to students who demonstrate a high level of financial need and whose passion is ensuring a Jesuit-inspired “whole child” education, with attention to supporting students’ well-being and development, both in the classroom and beyond.
