On April 21, 2018, over 300 educators from Bay Area public, charter and Catholic schools spent the day at Santa Clara University participating in hands-on educational workshops and hearing dynamic keynote speakers. This year's theme was Language, Culture, and Identity in the Education of Latinx Students, and focused on improving our work with Latinx and English Language Learner students. Latinx and English Language Learner students are a diverse group and vary in their ability to communicate in English and their home language. The day provided attendees with resources and ideas about how to better serve this group of students.
Attendees heard from two leaders in the field – Dr. Jeff Duncan-Andrade, professor at San Francisco State University and founder of the Roses in Concrete School, and Dr. Karen Valdes, Assistant Superintendent for Student Services in the Hemet Unified School District – and then chose to attend two different breakout sessions.

**For summits, conferences, and workshops held on campus, Santa Clara University does offer attendees the opportunity to earn official continuing education units. Attendees must register for CEUs before the event date and an additional fee does apply.
