Dr. Nancy Acevedo is an Associate Professor in the Department of Educational Leadership at California State University, San Bernardino. As an interdisciplinary scholar, she uses critical race theory and Chicana feminist theories to examine transitions along the higher education pipeline for Latina/o/x students. Dr. Acevedo’s experience as a college advisor at under-resourced high schools inform her commitment to social justice; her research advocates for equitable opportunities to college preparation and aligning college access with college completion. Dr. Acevedo’s research has been recognized by the University of California, All Campus Consortium On Research for Diversity (UC/ACCORD), American Association for Hispanics in Higher Education. She has published in various journals, including Race, Ethnicity, and Education, Harvard Educational Review, and the Journal of Hispanic Higher Education. Most recently, she co-authored a book with Dr. Gilberto Q. Conchas titled The Chicana/o/x dream: Hope, resistance, and educational success.

Acevedo serves as Chair of the AERA Latina/o/x Research Interest Special Interest Group and Conference Chair-Elect for the American Association of Hispanics in Higher Education. A first-generation college student from a low-income background, Nancy earned her BA from the University of California, Berkeley, MA from San Jose State University, and her PhD in Education with a focus on Race and Ethnic Studies at the University of California, Los Angeles.
