American Society of Heating, Refrigerating & Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE)
SCU ASHRAE is Santa Clara University's Student Chapter of ASHRAE, the society formerly known as the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers. ASHRAE seeks to inform students about career opportunities in the Heating, Ventilation, and Air-Conditioning industry. We do this by having speakers at our meetings, organizing industry tours and facilitating carpools for students to attend local professional ASHRAE meetings.

American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) was founded in 1880 in order to promote Mechanical Engineering and create safety standards for the field of engineering. The society strives to create a community of mechanical engineers looking to improve and promote the industry. It is a not-for-profit professional organization that enables collaboration, knowledge sharing, and skill development across all engineering disciplines while promoting the vital role of the engineer in society. ASME codes and standards, publications, conferences, continuing education, and professional development programs provide a foundation for advancing technical knowledge and a safer world. The Santa Clara University student chapter possesses the same vision while focusing on the engineering students at the university. The chapter provides opportunities to develop relationships with other student engineers, create connections with professional engineers from industry, and give back to the local community through outreach programs. The chapter also provides a discounted student membership to the national organization.

Pi Tau Sigma
Pi tau Sigma is the national mechanical engineering honor society. The Santa Clara Chapter was established in 1991. Members are chosen from the junior and senior classes on a basis of sound engineering ability, scholarship (upper 35%), personality, and probable future success in their chosen field of Mechanical Engineering. There are three grades of membership: Honorary, Graduate, and Active. Honorary members are technical graduates actively engaged in engineering work; or members of mechanical engineering faculties. Graduate membership is conferred upon persons who would have been eligible had Pi Tau Sigma been established earlier in schools not having chapters or upon those continuing graduate study.

The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) is a not-for-profit educational and service organization that empowers women to succeed and advance in the field of engineering, and to be recognized for their life-changing contributions as engineers and leaders. Founded in 1950, SWE is the driving force that establishes engineering as a highly desirable career for women through an exciting array of training and development programs, networking opportunities, scholarships, outreach and advocacy activities, and much more. Our section at Santa Clara University focuses on outreach to high school girls as well as personal and professional enrichment for members.

Tau Beta Pi
Tau Beta Pi is the national engineering honor society. The Santa Clara chapter was established in 1956. The purpose is to offer appropriate recognition of superior scholarship and exemplary character in engineering students. Engineering students in the upper twenty percent of their class are eligible and must demonstrate personal integrity, breadth of interest, adaptability, and unselfish activity. The Santa Clara chapter offers free, walk-in tutoring in introductory math, physics, chemistry, and engineering classes, generally on Monday through Thursday evenings.

Tau Beta Pi

Tau Beta Pi is the national engineering honor society. The Santa Clara chapter was established in 1956. The purpose is to offer appropriate recognition of superior scholarship and exemplary character in engineering students. Engineering students in the upper twenty percent of their class are eligible and must demonstrate personal integrity, breadth of interest, adaptability, and unselfish activity.

The Santa Clara chapter offers free, walk-in tutoring in introductory math, physics, chemistry, and engineering classes, generally on Monday through Thursday evenings.
