Alumni and Student News:
Hockenson

Kristi Hockenson '12 (bioengineering), Stryker Endoscopy Supplier Quality Engineer, was nominated for Employee of the Month within weeks of being hired, for her leadership in discovering and handling a potential health and safety concern for customers. She placed parts on shiphold, quarantined product, and implemented a course of action allowing Stryker to meet sales goals and clear back orders. Great work, Kristi!

Diane Keng

Diane Keng ’14, a graduate engineering management and leadership student who earned her B.S. in computer science and engineering, presented two papers last fall at the IEEE International Conference on Internet of Things 2014 in Taiwan, and the IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics in San Diego; and she's recently teamed up with Ph.D. candidates in Germany to research big data.

Avery Lu

Avery Lu '95 (electrical engineering) will be one of 23 distinguished speakers at the IoT (Internet of Things) Summit, Mar. 5-6, Santa Clara Convention Center. He will present "The State of Wearable Tech in Health and Fitness—Where Do We Go From Here?," Fri., Mar. 6, 4 p.m.

Sprout

Eric Monsef (BSME '90, MS EMGT '96), engineering management adjunct professor and VP of Immersive Systems at HP, led the group responsible for bringing Sprout by HP to market. Sprout, which combines PC, projector, 3D scanner, and more, was awarded best desktop PC by PC Mag at the recent Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.

Carol Reiley

Carol Reiley '04 (computer engineering) has written a children's book, Making a Splash. Combining her engineering problem-solving skills with a desire to help kids unlock their potential, Reiley tested drafts of her book in classrooms and homes across the country before crowdsourcing its publication.

TUHH Exchange Students

Saskia Carstensen and Vivienne Paton, are the inaugural students participating in a new graduate engineering exchange program between the School of Engineering and Technische Universität Hamburg-Harburg (TUHH). They are taking courses through the end of the academic year and learning about frugal innovation. Willkommen!

Meet our new staff members:
Laura Dapper

Laura Anne Dapper, Graduate Admissions Coordinator
A graduate of UC Berkeley with degrees in Political Science and Mass Communications, Laura Anne is an integral and collaborative team member of the Graduate Engineering Services Office, providing a wide range of admissions and administrative support while delivering high-quality customer service to prospective students.

Lisa Jocewicz

Lisa Jocewicz, Director of Records and Operations, Graduate Programs
Lisa has an MA degree in Education Administration with an emphasis on Higher Ed (SCU '11). Her role includes assisting students with registration, transfer credit, orientation, and graduation, creating quarterly class schedules, and processing adjunct faculty contracts, among much more!

Lindsay Mulic

Lindsay Mulic, Administrative Assistant, Electrical Engineering
As the point person for EE, Lindsay manages the department's budget and performs a wide range of duties in administrative support of full-time and adjunct faculty, undergraduate and graduate students. When she's not juggling these responsibilities, she finds time for the things she loves: monkeys, sewing, the 49ers, and spending time with her family.
