Amer, Ahmed

Ahmed Amer is an associate professor of Computer Science and Engineering at Santa Clara University, where he is currently a 2019-2020 Bannan Faculty Fellow, and was the 2018-2019 Emerging Issues Fellow at the Markkula Center for Applied Ethics where he is a Faculty Scholar. His interests include the intersection of technology and society, and in particular, ethical and social issues involving data storage, processing, and management.

Prof. Amer’s research focuses on systems topics, particularly data storage systems, operating systems, and distributed systems. His work also includes alternative and upcoming storage technologies, and their most practical and effective applications. He holds a doctorate in Computer Science from, and remains associated with the Storage Systems Research Center at, the University of California, Santa Cruz.
