Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Santa Clara University. She received her B.S. and M.S. degrees from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications in 2004 and 2007 respectively, and her Ph.D. degree from the University of Rhode Island in 2012 under the supervision of Dr. Yan (Lindsay) Sun. She is the recipient of the 2019 Researcher of the Year Award at School of Engineering, Santa Clara University, and the 2013 University of Rhode Island Graduate School Excellence in Doctoral Research Award. Her research interests include trustworthy computing and cyber security of emerging applications, such as Internet-of-things, blockchain, and online social media. She has published over 90 papers in prestigious journals and peer-reviewed conferences. Her papers have been selected as the best paper at the IEEE International Conference on Social Computing 2010 (acceptance rate = 13%) and the 9th International Conference on Ubi-Media Computing (UMEDIA 2016). She is currently a Youth EBM Editor of the Blockchain: Research and Applications Journal, an Associate Editor of APSIPA Transactions on Signal and Information Processing, and an Associate Editor of the Multimedia Applications and Tools Journal. She has contributed as an organizing committee and/or a TPC member for over 30 international conferences.
She is actively contributing to professional societies, including IEEE and APSIPA. She is a senior member of IEEE and a recipient of the IEEE Computer Society Technical & Conference Activity board Rising Star Service Award (2023). She is currently serving as the Chair of the IEEE Computer Society Technical Meeting Request Committee, IEEE Computer Society Distinguished Visitor(2022~2024), and the IEEE Computer Society Region 6 area 4 coordinator (since 2021). She has been Chair of the IEEE Computer Society Special Technical Communities (2019-2020, and 2022-2023), an APSIPA Distinguish Lecturer (2021-2022), the secretary of the APSIPA U.S. Chapter, and a member of the Multimedia Security and Forensics (MSF) TC for Asia-Pacific Signal and Information Processing Association (APSIPA).

We have recently received an NSF award on building Global Centers for Use-Inspired Research Addressing Global Challenges in Climate Change and Clean Energy (Track 2 - design) https://new.nsf.gov/news/nsf-international-partners-invest-764-million. The EuReCa Global Center for Equitable, Resilient & Clean Energy, co-led by Santa Clara University in the U.S. and Concordia University in Canada, aims to create a global research and training platform with a critical mass for collaborative investigation, innovation, and education toward a distributed energy resources (DER) based, more equitable, affordable, flexible, and resilient clean energy ecosystem at the edge of power grids for a diverse spectrum of communities and stakeholders. The international collaborations will leverage the distinctive geographical, technological, regulatory, and cultural context in their local communities to provide enriched and diversified opportunities for research and education activities benefiting the general public in the global context.

I have recently delivered invited talks at a series of events and venues, including a DVP talk co-hosted by the IEEE Buffalo Section and the IEEE Computer Society Santa Clara Valley Chapter, University of Maine AI webinar, the IEEE Computer Society Distinguish Visitor Webinar, IEEE Computer Society Hawaii Chapter, IEEE Computer Society Singapore Chapter, Singapore Nanyang Technology University, and Monash University. These talks mainly focus on "Facilitating Security and Trust among Multiple Parties through Blockchain Techniques" and "Human Factors in Trust-based Attacks/Defenses in Online Social Networks."
