At the recent SCU Senior Toast, President Michael E. Engh, S.J. named three of the Ethics Center Hackworth Fellows selected to receive University awards, which will be presented at Commencement on June 15:

  • The Valedictorian honor is conferred annually on a graduating senior selected for outstanding academic achievement and University service. The Valedictorian for the Class of 2019 is Eoin Lyons, who will graduate with a major in Political Science and a double minor in Economics and Finance.  He worked this year with Director of Campus Ethics David DeCosse on a review of the campus ethics program and on student government ethics.

  • The St. Clare Medal will be awarded to Madeline Eiken, a Bioengineering major and Chemistry minor. She worked this year on bioethics issues with Margaret McLean, Director of Bioethics at the Center.

  • Isabella Rios was among the select few who received the Richard J. Riordan Award in recognition of their outstanding contributions in the area of community service. This year, she worked on a journalism ethics project with Anita Varma, program manager for Journalism & Media Ethics.

The Ethics Center is proud of all the winners...stay tuned for more stories about the winners soon!
