The Markkula Center for Applied Ethics welcomes Georganne Perkins, senior financial advisor, as the newest member of the Ethics Center Advisory Board. The Advisory Board is composed of distinguished members of the off-campus community who provide essential counseling from an outside perspective, as well as ideas around event planning, fundraising, and Center external communications.
Perkins brings a wealth of experience in the investment management industry to her advisory role, including expertise in venture capital, buyouts, investor relations, and asset management. From 2006 to 2014, Perkins served as managing director at Fisher Lynch Capital, a private equity firm investing in venture capital, buyout funds, and co-investments. Perkins was then promoted to senior advisor, a position she held until 2020.
Her educational background includes a bachelor of arts (B.A.) focused in fine arts from the University of California, Irvine.
Prior experience includes her role as the director of private equity at the Stanford Management Company, where she held responsibility in endowment investments in venture capital and buyout funds, and advisory board positions. She was on the private equity team from 1990 to 2006, as well as other positions at Stanford since 1982.
Along with her role as an Ethics Center Advisory Board member, Perkins is a current member of the Investment Committee for Santa Clara University and the Investment and Audit Committees for the American Bible Society. Additionally, she is an Advisory Board Member at Western Technology Investors, based in Silicon Valley.
Her time is also spent focused on philanthropy, including membership in the Prison Law Office, a nonprofit public interest law firm that works to protect the Constitutional rights of California prisoners. Perkins also serves as a board member at Father Flanagan’s Fund for Needy Children, which supports Boys Town and provides life-saving support to at-risk youth and families in need.
Ethics Center Executive Director Don Heider and the rest of the Ethics Center staff are thrilled to welcome Perkins to the advisory board.
“Georganne was an important part of helping us think through the venture capital ethics concept for the center. She is a veteran investor with remarkable experience and a strong sense of right and wrong. So she seemed a natural fit for the board," said Heider.
The Center looks forward to having Perkins’ expert insights in the realms of venture capital and investment management and incorporating her guidance into future ethics work.
