Governor Newsom Announces Proposed Subsidies to Mitigate Rising Fuel Costs for Californians

Ann Skeet, senior director, leadership ethics, interviewed by KQED News.

Gas prices are skyrocketing across the nation in recent weeks due to factors linked to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Gavin Newsom has announced proposed subsidies for Californians, which in turn affects companies considering the cost of in-person and remote work for their employees, something that Ann Skeet weighed in on.

"So one of the things that corporate leaders are thinking about is how do we do our best work and we know enough about the human brain to know that we humans need connection to other people, and we do some of our best and most innovative work when we're together. So I think what we're feeling out right now coming out of some of the pandemic restrictions is what that sweet spot is going to look like, that trade off between maybe what some individual desires are and what some of the collective needs of society are."
