First-year applicants are the only students eligible for merit-based awards. Merit awards are reviewed at the time of admission and no additional application is required to be considered for these awards. Students must also be in good academic standing to keep their awards while at Santa Clara University.
SCU Presidential at Entry Scholarship
The Presidential at Entry Scholarship is awarded to first-year undergraduate students who demonstrate other qualities identified and emphasized by the president as critical to the University's mission.

- No CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE or FAFSA required
- Awards: Full tuition
- Renewable for 12 consecutive academic quarters
- Must meet satisfactory academic progress
- Must maintain a 3.5 cumulative minimum grade point average
- Indexed to tuition increases
- Full-time enrollment and any other renewal criteria
- Coordinated with federal, state and other University aid
- Recipients selected at time of admission
- Courses will count towards fulfilling degree requirements
- If degree requirements have been fulfilled, adjustments will be made to award
- Not reserved for Gap Year students
SCU Provost Scholarship
The Provost Scholarship is awarded to first-year undergraduate students who have assumed leadership roles in their schools and their communities.

- Awards: Half tuition
- Renewable for 12 consecutive academic quarters
- Must meet satisfactory academic progress
- Must maintain a 3.0 cumulative minimum grade point average
- Indexed to tuition increases

- Coordinated with federal, state and other University aid
- Recipients selected at time of admission
- Courses will count towards fulfilling degree requirements

SCU Dean's Scholarship
The Dean's Scholarship is awarded to first-year undergraduate students who are admitted to the College of Arts & Sciences, School of Business or School of Engineering.

SCU Bronco Scholarship
The SCU Bronco Scholarship, awarded to first-year undergraduate students by Enrollment Management, is a personal recognition scholarship awarded to selected individuals who will improve the characteristics of the entering class by virtue of the degree to which we are able to foster a stronger spirit of inclusive excellence among our students as measured by geographic, gender, economic and ethnic diversity.

Johnson Scholars Award
The Johnson Scholars comprehensive merit award is provided to first-year undergraduate students who demonstrate the highest levels of academic ability, motivation and leadership potential.

- Awards: Up to full tuition, standard room & board, books & supplies; summer stipend upon application in sophomore/junior year
- Renewable for 12 consecutive academic quarters
- Must meet satisfactory academic progress
- Indexed to tuition increases
- Coordinated with federal, state and other University aid
- Recipients selected at time of admission
- Courses will count towards fulfilling degree requirements
- If degree requirements have been fulfilled, adjustments will be made to award
- International students are eligible for consideration

- Upon completion of required financial aid forms (FAFSA and CSS Profile) for need-based consideration, students may be eligible for additional costs of attendance, such as standard room and board fees as well as book and other customary expenses
